Arteta favourite to land Arsenal job

Cape Town - Current Manchester City joint-assistant coach Mikel Arteta will reportedly be appointed as Arsenal's new manager.

The former Everton and Gunners midfielder will replace Arsene Wenger, who has been the Gunners leading man for 22 years, winning a total of 17 trophies during his tenure.

According to the Dailymail website, Arsenal players have already been informed that Arteta is '90 percent certain' to be in charge next season.

During his time as a player, the 36-year-old made 110 appearances for Arsenal before retiring at the club in 2016.

Arteta has worked closely with Pep Guardiola as City broke seven long-standing records that lead the Citizens to Premier League glory.

Celtic's Brendan Rodgers and former Arsenal great Patrick Viera were also among the names to be chosen for the job.

However, Chief Executive Officer Ivan Gazidis and director Josh Kroenke, son of Stan, has backed Arteta to steer the club in the right direction.
