Cape Town - American amateur golfer Ben Bender scored his first ever hole-in-one at the age of 93 last month, and then retired from the sport.
The Zanesville Times Recorder published the moving story earlier this week, detailing how the Ohio-based golfer, who had been playing for 65 years, eventually had his magical moment.
"I'd come close to some hole-in-ones, but this one was level on the green before it curved towards the hole and went in," Bender told the publication.
"I was in awe watching it. I played a few more holes, but my hips were hurting and I had to stop. It seemed the Lord knew this was my last round so he gave me a hole-in-one."
He started playing golf when he was 28 and carded his hole-in-one with a five-wood on the third hole at Green Valley in Zanesville, Ohio.
