Apparently the girl confided to a friend, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
A man accused of raping a 10-year-old girl will appear soon in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court in KwaZulu-Natal, South Coast Herald reports.
It is alleged the child left her Sezela home to fetch a bucket when she was called out to by the man (43) who owns a nearby shop.
“He took her inside the shop where he told her to take off her clothes and then allegedly had sexual intercourse with her,” Port Shepstone police communications officer, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said.
He offered her a packet of chips to buy her silence, instructing her to keep quiet about the incident.
She later confided in a friend and the suspect was taken into custody.
The Umzinto Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is investigating the case.
