The ANC Youth League (ANCYL) has urged young people to enjoy their holidays and festivities in a responsible manner. In its Christmas message the league has encouraged the youth not to abuse intoxicating substances and lead healthy lifestyles.

“As the ANC Youth league we call on all our members to be dutiful and do what their parents can be proud of. We call on restraint on hard intoxicating substances and increase on recreational sporting activities. The ANCYL would appreciate if parents can be economical in their festive financial spending as in January we all want to be able to go back to school,” says ANCYL’s Sicelo Shembe.

Not to be outdone, Cape Town mayor, Patricia De Lille has also wished all Capetonians and visitors to the Mother City a happy Christmas and Festive season.

“I would like to wish all the people of Cape Town a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. I hope that you'll be able to enjoy the day with your family and next year there’s a lot of hard work for all of us,” says De Lille.
