CAPE TOWN – Several roads have already been closed throughout Cape Town's CBD in preparation for the annual Festival of Lights. The event kicks off at the Grand Parade at four 'o clock on Sunday afternoon. The festival of lights is over 40–years–old and is regarded as the city's largest open–air free concert. City of Cape Town traffic service's Richard Coleman says, “We had Darling Street between Adderley Street and Buitenkant Street that is closed. Then we've got all the roads leaking into that which is Parade Street, Long Market Street, Corporation Street and Lower Plein Street.” Coleman says traffic officials have been deployed throughout the CBD to redirect and control traffic. “Traffic officers will be deployed to all the road closures and then we also have the SAPS that will be dealing with crowd control.”
