CAPE TOWN – The man convicted of raping and murdering Bredasdorp teenager Anene Booysen will stay behind bars.

The Western Cape High Court on Friday turned down Johannes Kana's application for leave to appeal his conviction.

“The judge said after considering all the information before her, she is convinced that another court will not come to a different conclusion. We are happy with that.”

Booysen was raped, mutilated and left for dead at a construction site in February.

It was initially reported the 17–year–old's attack had been a gang–rape, but it was later revealed Kana was solely responsible.
