Lubambo drafted into Zambia U20 team

Power Dynamos midfielder Lubambo Musonda has been drafted into the Zambia Under-20 team preparing for the 2013 Cosafa Youth Championships in Lesotho.

Lubambo has been called up by Zambia under-20 coach Oswald Mutapa following injuries to two key players.

The team has suffered a setback following injuries to winger Austin Muwowo of Konkola Mine Police and Zanaco striker Charles Zulu.

“We have two injuries, Austin and Charles, and we have called Lubambo to be part of the team,” Mutapa said.

Zulu sustained an ankle injury in a training game against their Under-17 counterparts on Saturday while Muwowo has a groin problem.

The team is currently camped in Lusaka ahead of departure for Lesotho this Saturday.

“We already have an idea of which players will go to Cosafa but we still need to see more, so we are likely to have the final 20 by Friday,” Mutapa said.

Defending champions Zambia are in Group C at the tournament to be held from December 3-14 in Lesotho.

Zambia commence their Cosafa Youth Championship title defence on December 4 against Namibia in a 16h30 kick off at Mafeteng.

They will follow this up with a showdown against their archrivals South Africa on December 7 in Maseru.
