A 36-year-old man accused of possession of illegal firearm and ammunition will continue with his bail application next week.
Freddy Macwele of Jouberton in Klerksdorp appeared in the Rustenburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday and his case was postponed to July 12, for continuation of bail.
He was arrested in Rustenburg following a high speed chase on July 1, after the police spotter a suspicious silver BMW outside a bank. The police approached the vehicle and it sped off and a car chase ensued.
Macwele and his three accomplices were cornered at a residential complex in Waterfall East. Three of them managed to flee and evaded the arrest.

The police believe he was a part of a syndicate that follow people from the bank who had withdraw large amount of money and robbed.
The car they were using was allegedly rented in Klerksdorp and false registration number plates were affixed on it.
