JOHANNESBURG - The Pretoria Zoo says it’ s operating as normal and it’s safe to visit the park despite the ongoing strike by employees affiliated to the National Trade Union Congress (NTUC).
Workers went on strike on Saturday afternoon demanding that a work week agreed upon in 2009 be set aside.
The zoo says the strike won’t disrupt daily operations and animals are being taken care of zoo spokesperson Craig Allenby.
“The operations are continuing as normal. All our animals are being taken care of and the zoo is still open to members of the public. And the members of the public are totally safe to visit the national zoo.
“We’ve negotiated the picketing rules with the NTUC and at the moment there’s no infringement, it’s totally safe to come and visit the zoo.”
