JOHANNESBURG – South African comedian Trevor Noah is set to star in his own US comedy show.
According to Deadline.com, the half–hour comedy show is inspired by Noah's experience growing up in Soweto as the son of a Swiss father and a South African mother. The show is being produced by Legendary Television and Overbrook Entertainment, a company owned by Jade Pinkett–Smitt and Will Smith.
Last year, Noah became the first South African comedian to appear on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and has since also appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman. Another one of Noah's US comedy specials African American is currently airing on the Showtime network.
